Adirondack Golf ® originated at a private hunting and fishing club in the Adirondacks nearly 100 years ago. The founding members invented a rustic version of golf that is akin to early Scottish "links" golf and is played "in the rough"(not on a groomed course). They fashioned clubs with hardwood heads and hickory shafts and played with oversized balls similar to today's lacrosse ball. The game has remained unchanged and played exclusively on the grounds of this private club for generations using the original wooden clubs, c.1912.
Heirloom
Sports Inc has introduced the modern version of the Adirondack Golf® in
April 2009 offering high quality wooden club heads and shafts, along
with 2 1/2 inch balls, stakes or cups(to identify the hole) and a
carrying bag. All Adirondack Golf® products and materials are sourced and manufactured in the USA.
Our wooden Adirondack Golf clubs are real sports equipment and have
been designed to be swung and perform like modern manufactured metal
golf clubs, but with Adirondack Golf a full swing results in a shot
with a distance of no more than 55 yards, much less with the more
lofted clubs. Today anyone can play real golf the Adirondack Golf way
in a backyard, at a park, at a schoolyard, in a field or in the woods.
The players design their own course to be as fun and challenging as
possible.
One set of Adirondack Golf clubs can be shared by up to 10 players. With Adirondack Golf you can teach your children golf, organize a neighborhood tournament, or play with your family and friends anytime, so just let yourself go and have some fun!
