Adjustable Weight - AW Series Mallets The AW Series mallet is the most advanced croquet mallet available anywhere. We have combined innovative technology with "Old World" craftsmanship. This contemporary design incorporates a small profile head (2-1/4" square) along with adjustable weighting. The result is one mallet that adjusts to changing playing conditions. Thanks to our exclusive 'Taper-lock' fitting system, you can choose from a traditional ash shaft, high performance aluminum or (soon) the lightweight graphite shaft. No other mallet offers this combination. From an aesthetic perspective, this mallet blends the natural beauty of Ipe or Purple Heart with the gleam of brushed brass. Complementing this is the laser-engraved detailing, highlighted with a gold color. The over-size heads incorporate measurements on the side of the head. The other side is ready for your choice of engraving details. The narrow profile head is kept on track with a its slim inlaid contrasting sightline. As with all of our square mallets, personalize it with laser engraving. Our AW Series head design allows for incremental adjustments in weight of up to 7 ounces. The weight cavity in the bottom of the head ensures a low center of gravity. The benefits of this system are enormous. All weight is added to the very bottom of the mallet, keeping the center of gravity low. A low center of gravity means less weight is needed to maintain the same striking force on the ball. Each mallet includes a full set of 6 weights and stainless steel screws. The AW Series is made in two species; Ipe (pronounced ee-pay) and Purple Heart. The Ipe is a slightly heavier wood. Both have a their own distinctive color and grain pattern. To see how the species and shaft choices affect the overall mallet weight, please refer to the chart below. from stock. These mallets, being designed for the low and aspiring low
handicap players are most popular in the 10" - 12" sizes. For
this reason, the oversize heads shown are included in the price.

most popular wood mallet in the Oakley Woods Croquet mallet family. Traditional croquet players have
requested a wood headed mallet that will last. The Purple heart mallet answer all of their
needs. The head is made from a dense African hardwood, named Purple Heart, that has striking (no pun intended)
beauty. It is highlighted with a contrasting inlaid wood sightline. There is no
need to artificially 'adjust' the weight to 3 pounds.
To ensure a long life, we have reinforced the striking faces. The aluminum high performance shaft, fitted to the head with our "Taper-lock" system, was introduced in 2000. It is covered on its upper section with an octagonal wood grip section and wrapped in our cushion grip (impregnated with simulated cork). The lower section is fitted with a black neoprene grip, providing a firm hold for more controlled roll shots. The upper cushion grip is available in your choice of colors (see color chart) . The typical weight of this mallet is about 3 lbs with custom weights available on request. Alternately, you may opt for the solid ash shaft. We use only premium grade straight grain ash for our tournament mallet shafts. This wood is the preferred wood for any striking task. It is highly resilient and provides just the right amount of flex for controlled croquet shots. Your mallet head can have a customized message or image laser-engraved to the side of the head. solid block of North American white ash and outfit it with jet black
striking faces and matching sightline. Precision weighting is
added where is is needed most - directly behind the point of
impact. All of this is finished in an automotive grade epoxy urethane
for a long lasting shine.

tournament level mallet. Its head is machined from a solid billet of tough UHMW
(polyethylene); providing an extremely durable striking surface. Its snow-white
color offers a superb contrast to the sightline that is color matched to the
cushion grip (see color chart). A positive grip is attained with a new cushion grip that is impregnated with simulated
